Distance and Activities: 25’ drive
Explore the Hue of old today via the iconic Perfume River. Board your colorful dragon boat, and head down the river, first stop at Tu Duc Tomb, a spacious countryside expanse filled with lotus ponds and ancient shrines. Continue on, arriving to the elaborate tomb of Emperor Minh Mang, known as the Nguyen Dynasty’s staunchest Confucian. Wander through the immaculate gardens and temples before continuing to Kim Long, Hue’s garden neighborhood, for lunch.
Return to the city in the early afternoon, stopping at the ancient Citadel, a palace constructed by the great kings of old, showcasing a proud flag tower, ornate gates, the forbidden purple city, and various royal chambers.

Lace up your sneakers and cycle 11km outside of Hue along the Perfume River this morning on gentle, flat roads until you reach Thanh Tien Village. Thanh Tien is famous for paper craftsmanship, such as the tradition of cutting and folding paper flowers and confetti for spiritual ceremonies. Learn how to make tulips, roses, and poppies in all shades and colors of the rainbow with only a piece of paper and a pair of scissors.
Afterwards, cycle back to the city center and transfer 40 minutes inland to Alba Hot Springs Resort. Boasting natural mineral hot springs, spa and Onsen facilities, and an outdoor adventure park featuring zip-lines, high-wires, water games, and craft villages, it’s the perfect place to spend a fun-filled day with the whole family.

Spend the morning at Alba Hot Springs resort, departing mid-day towards the impressive Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, home to some of the world’s largest known caves, crossing the demilitarized zone (DMZ) as you go. Stop and explore the historic battlegrounds, including Vinh Moc Tunnels, the site where an entire village of around 90 families moved underground in response to American bombing. You can also check out the Ben Hai Museum which holds some artifacts and photographs from this time period.
Arrive in Phong Nha City in the around 15:00 and enjoy the rest of the day free at leisure to relax at your hotel or to explore the local area.

Wake up this morning with a piping hot breakfast before exploring Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Start at a semi-wild enclosure and learn about the critically endangered Ha Tinh Langurs. Head further into the jungle and mountains towards 8 Ladies Cave, a significant piece of history during the Second Indochina War when American bombs ravaged the area.
By mid-morning, make your way to Paradise Cave, a 31km long cave discovered in 2005. Wander through passageways and impressive cave formations before stopping in Chay Lap Village for lunch beside the river.
After lunch, cycle through Chay Lap and Tram Villages, catching a glimpse of local life before returning to the entrance of Phong Nha Ke Bang, where a car will return you your hotel around 16:30.

Distance and activities: 1h drive – 2h caving (540 steps) – 1.5h cycling
Wake up early and head to the Oxalis Office between 7:00-7:30 for a tour safety briefing. After signing the release form, your tour guide will provide you with the required equipment for the day’s activities. Start your journey on the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail, trekking down from the road to the valley floor.
A nice, easy 30-minute trek through the jungle brings you to a dry stream bed. Follow the rocky path carefully to climb down over boulders to the entrance of Nuoc Nut Cave. With your caving headlight and helmet, follow your guide into the darkness, gazing at the stalactites and stalagmites within as well as some clear blue pools. Return to the entrance and enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the wilderness.
Return back the way you came, traveling by car to the kayaking point. Paddle downstream through beautiful surroundings, watching out Kingfishers along the way. Finish with a cold drink at the Chay Lap Water Sports Centre and transfer to your hotel, arriving around 17:00.
